Thirty years ago

Thirty years ago I was living in Huntington Beach California (Not an easy thing for a Idahoans to admit) I had just quit working for a carpet and drapery man who had me stay in the office and answer phones and balance his wives checkbook. I watched t.v. and took naps. It was great because I was pregnant with my first child. I felt pretty good , just fat, and then I was only 21 years old and well, 21 year olds don't know how to feel bad. I was coming down with a head cold but that didn't matter. My baby - he or she - was coming - due date was March 4,1978. The morning of March 2, it was a Thursday - I started to have to go to the bathroom. It was early - 6 am early. My then husband - Dave - was going off to work in the mail room of some big company - I don't remember the name - he asks me if I'm ok - I answer "yes - go to work" But I keep having to go to the bathroom - and well there is a little blood now - better call Mom---
"Mom - how do you know your in labor?"
Mom asks - Are you having pains?
"Not really pains but I have to go to the bathroom every 7 minutes or so"
Mom screams - GO TO THE HOSPITAL
I call Dave to come all the way back home to get me - I also call the Dr. who tells me to come into the office before I go to the Hospital.
At the Dr. office I am checked out and he tells me that before the day is out I will have a baby. It is about 10 in the morning and we are off to the hospital - Hoag Memoril Hospital -
Things progressed quickly and the Dr. was called - NOW - coming in on his lunch hour he catches my first child - a son - 8 pounds 8 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. Damon Edward Campbell is awake and looking all around. To this day he is awake and looking around- why - because he is waiting for his first son - due March 4, 2008 - and he knows all too well that with a baby you are always awake. Thirty years ago I couldn't wait to hold my baby and see what he looked like and to just let him know of my love for him and now I am awaiting the arrival of my grandson who I want to know what he looks like to I can't wait to tell him how much Grandma loves him.
I never would have guessed this thirty years ago.

IT IS TIME TO JOIN THE COOL CROWD

So now I either have to learn how to spell and construct a decent sentence or be mocked by my middle daughter. Right now I am just trying to figure out how this thing works. I really don't know what I would be writing in this thing - especially since my life right now is work and house work. Getting older isn't full of excitement. Unless you count the dinner I had last night - milk and chocolate chocolate chip cookies. I didn't count how many cookies - lets just say I was full when I finished. Now I am back to no sweets. One splurge in 5 months is not bad. So now I want to share a photo - This is my trying to be like "Brady" photo of the snow - notice the berry? Till next time - while I figure this all out
